Personal Birth Mantras (with free printable)

Are you preparing for an upcoming birth and are struggling to get into the headspace of OWNING your own birth process?

Having a birth that is empowering to your own story is so important as your birth is your own. Leading up to a birth, expecting parents usually always hear the criticism that they...

  • aren't ready to bring a baby into the world

  • they should just elect for a c-section because the baby apparently is too big to fit through the birth canal

  • go straight for the pain meds instead of natural ways to cope with pain

Nobody should ever be faced with the harsh criticism that makes them believe that their way, is the wrong way. Truth be told, there is no right way to bring a baby into the world. Birth is a natural process and every type of birth is beautiful.

In order to gain the confidence going into the birthing process, you must get rid of the voices in the back of your head that are telling you all the things they think you are doing wrong.

Your own personal birth mantras will do just that. These short sayings will be repeating in your head throughout your whole birthing experience, they will take out the negative and bring in the positive.

Birth mantras are:

  • positive self talk

  • self-encouragement

  • a positive birth experience

  • release of fear and gain of confidence

Birth mantras are designed for you to be able to tune into your body and release the fear that may be building up.

They are a way to show your resilience and helps program your body into the natural ability to give birth.

Think of everything that you may lose thought of during your birth, for example: strength, adaptability, advocating, instincts and turn them into birth mantras.

- I am strong

- I can adapt

- I am my own advocate

- I trust my instincts

Write them on sticky notes or find a free printable. Now when you get to your birthing location, place them around you or keep them all together. If a partner or doula sees that you need a little extra push they will gravitate to those mantras and will look you in the eyes and say one. "YOU ARE STRONG." That moment now has shaped a different mindset. You will now repeat that same mantra in your head or even say it out loud.

There are lots of different birth mantras out there on the internet but in order to get the most out of them making your own personal mantras, is best. I have included a printout of the birth mantras that I like the most for guidance.
