What I Do
All pregnancies are different, and that’s why I work with each client to develop customized preferences for pregnancy, birth and beyond.
All these services listed below are individualized;Â however, packages are available to combine services.
Prenatal Support
Prenatal sessions are an essential part of preparing for a new baby. As a doula I am able to help by answering your question, creating your birth preferences, go through any stress you might be feeling and prepare your household for this new transition. During prenatal visits so services that could be offered are:Â prenatal yoga stretches, cooking meals/food preparation, preparing the nursery, setting up a designated feeding area, nutrition support, acupressure, and so much more! Another important part of prenatal visits are to create a postpartum plan to make sure you are well taken care of during that period, especially throughout the first forty days.
Birth Support
When a gestational parent goes into labour I am able to join you at your home or at the hospital (depending on your birth preferences). During your birth, I will offer emotional support, physical comfort and, as needed, facilitate communication with the staff to make sure that you have the information you need to make informed decisions throughout this period. After delivery, I will stay with you for a few hours to make sure you are settled in. If you wish, I can take videos or photos during the birth.
Postpartum Support
Postpartum support is more important then you might think! As a doula I will nourish the gestational parent to make sure they are supported in taking care of their new baby. I will come by to make sure the transition to parenthood is going well, answer any questions about the baby or yourself, and discuss any challenges you might be going through. I can also help with light cleaning, meal prep, laundry, care for other siblings, or care for the baby so you can tend to your own body. As well, night shifts are an option if you need extra help throughout that time or you just need a good nights rest. The postpartum visits are intended to make sure parents feel supported through this magical transition.
Sibling Support
Whether you want your older children to attend your birth or just need care while you are in labour, a siblings doula is there for you! I have many years experience as a camp leader, babysitter, and nanny. A siblings doula supports your child/children with the emotional, physical and mental transition of welcoming a new baby into the family. If you would like your child to attend your birth I will be their main form of support so you and your partner can focus on the birth of your baby. A siblings doula is able to explain to the child what is happening and prepare them ahead of time for what to expect during the birth. If at any point during the birth the child is fearful or is no longer interested I will remove them from the birth space and care for them in a different environment. No matter if your child is their for the birth or not, I will make sure they are emotionally supported through this transition.
